Rose Day

The Pampoenkraal Festival week got underway on Sunday when just under 90 players took to the course to contest Rose Day. As the day progressed a strong South-Westerly wind began to blow up making conditions very difficult for those teeing off later in the field. Nevertheless a very pleasant day of golf was rounded off with a very sociable prize giving supper where members and their guests were entertained by Mellow & Jive, featuring an original member of The Bats. Nicely organised by Ladies Golf Society Captain, Margaret de Wet, and her committee, with the help of John Bold and the Durbanville Team whose waitresses and bar staff are looking so well turned out in their new uniforms, the Rose Bowl was won by Hylda Hamilton and Werner van Rooyen. Main sponsors for the day were Ernie Bester of Compass Guarding and Yes Electrical to whom we are extremely grateful, and also our thanks go to Russell Rathbone of Rusty Oak Restaurant, Ruslemere, David Luus of Afrifoods, Distell, St James' Global and Neutrog Rose Fertilisers for their sponsorship of the day in the form of wet holes, vouchers and biltong.

WELCOME TO DURBANVILLE GOLF CLUB - Where Every Day is a Good Day for Golf.

I am proud to be the current captain of Durbanville Golf Club, and, like my predecessors before me, I am committed to maintaining and developing the standards that have earned us the fond accolade, The Jewel of the North.
